Graduate Chess Help
Graduate Chess is designed to be intuitive, however there is a lot of content in it, so I hope the following information is truly helpful. If you have suggestions to make it more so let me know.
The program begins on the splash screen, where the version number is prominently displayed, as well as several options:
- Play: Play a game against the computer or a human opponent.
- Setup: In Setup Mode, you can modify a board setup.
- Drills: Enters Drills Mode
- Load: This allows you to load one or more PGN (Portable Game Notation) games to Play
- Review: This allows you to load one or more PGN games to study in Analyse Mode
- Exit: Exit the game.
Graduate chess also has five different playing modes, Play, Setup, Drills, Vision, and Analyse Mode. To get to these modes, simply choose the appropriate option on the splash screen or by clicking on the Mode button during gameplay.
To exit GraduateChess, simply hit any hard button or hit the exit option on the splash screen and the program will close. If you are registered, the next time you enter Graduate Chess, the state of the game will be saved including the board state and current game mode.
To make moves in Graduate Chess, simply drag a piece to its destination, or tap a piece and then tap its destination. If the move is legal, the piece will move. To do the special move En Passant, simply drag or tap-move the pawn to the intercepting square as if it had captured the pawn before it passed. To perform a castle, as long as it is legal (you are not in check, your passage squares are not in check and neither your king nor the target rook have moved yet) drag or tap-move your king two squares horizontally either queenside or kingside.
